1st Day Cusco- Taucca –La May- Cusco:
We pick you up from your hotel towards the small town of Tauca (3750 m). At the beginning of this trip the way is flat and the views are the classic Andean valleys filled with corn, potatoes, quinoa and other local tubercles. As we go up to the “Pucajasa pass, located at 4 393 m.a.s.l. , the views changes drastically to the classic Andean dessert with few lush, mainly the ichu that grows in high altitude.You will overlook the spectaculars snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota Andean range such Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon and San Juan. After the highest point, we begin the flat downhill hike towards Huchuy Qosqo for about two hours through a path that take us to Caucca. Once here, you will be able to visit he arqueological sites like sacred temples, storehouses and also the agricultural ones with lots of cactus on them. This canyon is the result of a geological fault line, Huchuy Qosqo, Little Cusco is located at 3 650 m.a.s.l. which is a delightful Inka complex.
It also has a very fine stonework on a great Kallanka (rectangular walls), some residential houses and two floor buildings made of stone and sun dried brick. Huchuy Qosqo plateau is surrounded by agricultural terraces and the marvelous Vilcanota mountain range. After that we hike downhill to La May located at 2900 m.a.s.l where we take our transportation back to Cusco passing through the towns of Pisaq and Ccorao.
