INKA TRAIL 4D / 3N

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one of the best hiking experiences and incomparable because it is one of the best treks, built by the Incas to connect different parts of the vast empire. Surrounded by natural beauty and archaeological sites, this network of trails joined to connect various peoples in ancient times in what is now known as the North of Argentina and Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia and where the city of Cusco was the capital and the main hub. We find valleys that contain the regional fauna of the high ecological levels or of the tropics, between the stretches of the mountains and the cloud forest.
This walk is an opportunity to go back in time and live with the Incas for 4 indescribable days, and remember the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is full of good energy.

Itinerary

1st.- DAY: CUSCO – PISKACUCHO KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA

On this day our tour begins with picking you up at your hotel very early and then go by bus to km. 82. We will pass through some typical towns of the area as well as enjoy some snow-covered mountains that are part of the Andes Mountain Range. First we will make a small stop in Ollantaytambo (30 min) to buy drinks, snacks, trekking poles, rain jackets, flashlights etc. We will also be able to take the optional breakfast (not included), then we will continue by bus until we arrive at the starting point at PISCACUCHO or Km 82. Later we will go to the checkpoint where we will show our original documents DNI, Passport, and the students with the ISIC Card in hand (originals).

This day is a very easy region since most of the way is flat and there are not many ups and downs. We will walk to the bank of the Urubamba River and we will see some snowy peaks and landscapes until we reach the archaeological zone of Patallacta located in the valleys of (Kusichaca and the Sacred Valley) where you can see the said area in the distance. Then we’ll continue to our lunch spot in TARACHAYOC after a short break we will continue to our first campsite in Wayllabamba where we will spend the night.

2nd. – DAY: WAYLLABAMBA – THE DEAD WOMAN PASS- PACAYMAYU

Approximately at 6:00 we will have breakfast afterwards we will start our trek which is the hardest and most difficult but not impossible day, where we will ascend to the highest point of the Inca trail called the WARMI WAÑUSCA pass (Dead Woman) located at 4,200 meters. Here we will have different temperatures and in the same place you can buy some drinks in different places like: Ayapata and llullucha pampa, after this there will be no more stores to stop and buy things. After reaching the summit you will be able to enjoy the majestic valleys that surround us and take some pictures full of excitement afterwards we will begin to descend to the campsite in Pacaymayo where we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will have a free afternoon (siesta) to recharge our batteries for the next day. We will have a mid-afternoon snack (happy hour) dinner and rest in this place, at night the temperature drops a lot.

3rd. – DAY: PACAYMAYU – PASS OF RUNCURACAY – WIÑAYHUAYNA

This day we will also get up early to have our breakfast after breakfast we will fill your canteens or bottles (cold boiled water) of 1lt. per person. This is the longest day of the Inca Trail but at the same time it is a cultural day of landscapes and part of the leafy jungle (wet forests). We will visit the archaeological sites of Runcuracay, Sayacmarca and Puyupatamarca, the 2nd highest point is at 3,950 m / 12,959 feet before the half way point of the trail we will see the archaeological site of Runcuracay where we will have a guided tour and then continue to the second highest point. Rest and an average descent of 40 min. We will visit the archaeological zone of Sayacmarca.

Then we continue walking for approx. 30 minutes to the lunch spot. We will have a brief rest and continue to the last place of visit Puyupatamarca on the way you will be able to observe some landscapes as well as the immense forests, orchids and some animals. Upon reaching this third archaeological site we will descend some steps until we reach our last campsite where we will spend the last night called Wiñayhuayna (forever young).

4th.- DAY WIÑAYHUAYNA- MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This day we will have a very early breakfast. Then we will go to the next checkpoint and we will start our walk very early for approximately two hours to reach the Inca citadel of Machupicchu where we will enjoy the sunrise, but before that we will pass by the Inti Punku (sun gate). Here you can take the classic photos and after enjoying this magnificent panorama we will take the guided tour of the sanctuary, an average of 2 hours, around the most important places and surroundings of the Inca citadel like the: religious sector, agricultural sector, ceremonial locations, etc.

After the tour you will have free time to explore the citadel as well as visit some other sites and places of the citadel and take some more photos, then you will need to go down to the town of Aguas Calientes to have lunch and go to the train station 30 min. before departure, depending on the different train schedules. The train goes from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo where we will pick you up on a return bus (that is included) to the city of Cusco.

NOT RECOMMENDED. – for people who have altitude sickness or lightheadedness or people suffering from obesity or with poor physical conditions.

About the availability: 500 people are allowed to enter each day who can do the 4-day Inca Trail. To be able to enter this route we recommend that you book your trail in advance as soon as possible. During the high season of tourism from March to September, permits may be depleted 4-6 months in advance.

NOTE

The time depends a lot on the train schedule that is granted, but you have to be at the station half an hour before the departure of your train. Likewise, rates are subject to any increase or readjustment by the MINISTRY OF CULTURE and PERU RAIL S.A (train company) which could affect the rates.
In order to make the reservation for the Inca Trail 04d / 03n Machupicchu, you must send the following information: First and last names, nationality, date of birth, passport. Students must send their scanned ISIC card (valid), children up to 07 years old their scanned passport. (In case you renew your passport at any time send the two scanned and for the trail and the entrance it is necessary to carry the two old and new passports for the route of the Inca Trail).

RECOMMENDATIONS WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

The passengers should personally carry the following:

Travel insurance, personal items, first aid kit, fever pills, upset stomach pills, altitude pills, water purifier, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, flashlights, rain ponchos/jackets, hiking poles, trekking shoes, gloves. Cap/hat for the sun and the cold, thermal clothes for the night and light clothes for the day, money (according to personal criteria) and original documents: Passport, ID, the students should bring their original ISIC card.
