HORSEBACK RIDING

It all begins with the presence of your guide or our transportation from the hotel with the tour that will take our private transportation to the ranch. There we will provide the horses according to your experience that will go with us throughout the entire tour. The guide will show you how to control your horse, and use our equipment of safety helmets and the first aid kit etc. This is a quiet tour since we leave the city of Cusco in the direction of the attractions as during the City Tour with the difference that it will be on horseback.

A 3 and a half hour horseback ride will take us through the fields where we can enjoy the Andean-style villages that still maintain their customs. We will visit the archaeological sites like some Inca ruins where we will enjoy a wonderful view of the Imperial City, the views of the mountains, and the lost contact of nature with mother earth and then return to our ranch from there we will return to the city of Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.

Itinerary

On this day the pickup from your hotel will be at 08:30 am then we will take our private transport to the ranch which is near Qenko. At the ranch we will meet our horses and the guides who will be with us during the whole walk. Upon leaving the ranch we will take you to the archaeological complex of Qenko. From here you will get a wonderful view of this impressive place but if you would like to visit/enter this area you will need the Cusco tourist ticket to enter (while you explore the guides will be taking care of the horses). Afterwards, we will follow a small dirt path along the road to the next archaeological site of Puca Pucara.

The name translates to “The Red Door” and is named due to the function it had as a checkpoint for those who wanted to enter the imperial capital of Cusco during the Inca period. Continuing the tour we will arrive at Tambomachay called “baths of the Inca” but it was a place where ceremonies were made for the worship of water as well as for the importance of agriculture. From Tambomachay we will pass through a forest of eucalyptus trees on our way to our final destination of Sacsayhuaman where the Incas worshiped the sun and the mountains that they considered APUS (protective mountains), finally our excursion ends in Sacsayhuaman so that you may take some photos and explore this spectacular site.
